In order to exclude a z wave device in the smartthings app you must have the physical device with you and be within range of the smartthings hub.
After the app indicates that the device was successfully removed from smartthings follow the first set of instructions above to connect the z wave kwikset.
Z wave exclusion is used to reset z wave devices even if they ve never been connected before or were connected to a different hub.
